Points of interest along the route
Hrubý Rohozec Castle
Hrubý Rohozec Castle is one of the dominant features and oldest architectural monuments in the Turnov area. A scene from the dining room with a falling chandelier was filmed at the castle for the film ‘The Secret of the Carpathian Castle’, and the castle (at that time considerably devastated) also appeared in the film ‘The Killer Hides His Face’, where it was transformed into a medical centre.
Dlask's Farm
A former freehold farmstead and magistrate's court built in 1716. Since its construction, the building has undergone numerous alterations, including relocation further away from the Jizera River. Filming location for the fairy tale Rumplcimprcampr (shots in front of the farmstead, inside the stable, in front of the upper gate – carriage entrance) and the film Jára Cimrman ležící, spící (scene on the porch).
Bartošova pec
This pseudo-karst cave is located in the valley of the Vazovecký stream, about 3 km north of Turnov. It is part of a karst system and its known length is 225 m.
Ruins of Frýdštejn Castle
The castle from the second half of the 14th century, probably founded by the lords of Bibrštejn, was besieged by the Hussites at the beginning of the 15th century and is mentioned as deserted at the end of the 16th century. It became the filming location for the fairy tale
‘O princezně Jasněnce a létajícím ševci’ (scenes on the castle tower, the witches' residence).
Malá Skála
Thanks to the natural attractions in the surrounding area and the opportunities for sports, the village is an important tourist destination. Malá Skála can be seen in the films ‘Arthur, Merlin and the Runaways’ (the canoeing scene on the Jizera River), ‘The Killer Hides His Face’ and ‘Seven Hungry Men’.
