Zřícenina hradu Ralsko

Ralsko Hill (696 m above sea level) rises 400 m above the valley floodplain of the Ploučnice River. The peak with steep rocky and rubble slopes is made of basalt. The remains of Ralsko Castle, founded in the 14th century by the Wartenbergs, are located on the summit.

From this place you can enjoy a unique and unrepeatable view of the former military area framed by the two cones of Bezděz in the south, to the northeast you can see the wreath of the border mountains - Lužické hory, Jizerské hory and Krkonoše, on the western side you can see the Czech Central Highlands with the highest mountain Milešovka.

Ralsko is an unmissable landmark. However, the steep and strenuous climb is worth it. And what will you see here? The highest mountain in the wide surroundings, volcanic rock, a stone sea, a circular view, the ruins of a once extensive castle, perhaps even the remains of inscriptions in Cyrillic from the time when Ralsko was part of a military training area inhabited by the Soviet army....
