To Svijany Castle – for local history, games, and beer

In 2013, the neighboring Svijany Brewery purchased Svijany Castle, thereby saving it from almost certain demolition given the building’s dilapidated condition. With the help of European grants and Norwegian funds, the castle was restored to the form it boasted in the 17th century. The original Renaissance fortress was built in 1578 by Jaroslav of Vartemberk. Among its notable historical owners were Jáchym Ondřej Šlik and Albrecht von Wallenstein. In the six years since its reopening to the public in 2016, the castle has become a major cultural and social hub of the region, offering something for everyone. The castle hosts a wide range of events, weddings, and team-building activities, and you can enjoy a variety of activities at any time during the castle’s open season.

Svijany Hotel & Chateau

Svijany Brewery

A brewery was established in Svijany back in 1564, making it one of the oldest breweries in the Czech Republic. The brewery is now entirely Czech-owned and offers customers almost twenty unpasteurized beers, brewed following traditional procedures.
