The village is located 5 km south-east of Mladá Boleslav. It boasts one of the most valuable churches in the Mladá Boleslav region. This three-turreted building on the hill is an unmistakable landmark.
The Church of St. Václav was originally a Late Gothic building consecrated in 1571. It comprises two bodies with three prismatic towers. The building gradually underwent significant modifications during the Renaissance (1609) and Baroque (1736) periods, when the interior was decorated with frescoes in stucco frames by J. Vodňanský. The main altar from 1736 is Baroque, portal-shaped with columns. On the right side of the altar there is a painting of St. Ludmila. The pulpit also originates from 1736. Under the southern tower is the funeral chapel containing the 1834 tombs of Maximilian Thurn-Taxis and his wife, Maria Eleonora.
Sýčina is the birthplace of the actress, Marie Tomášová.
