The village above the valley of the Skalsko stream (Skalský potok) is located 13 km west of Mladá Boleslav. It is attractive for its many timbered, mostly double-storey farmhouses, dating back to the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. Interesting buildings include Skalsko Castle and the Church of St. Adalbert with a huge tower.

The Church of St. Adalbert has a massive tower which is a remnant of the original Gothic building, while the Church body was later added in the Baroque period (1735). The Church includes a hexagonal Baroque ossuary.

The Castle was originally a Baroque building that was rebuilt in 1878 by Mladá Boleslav architect, Jiří Fichtner (now it is the Film School). There are many timbered, mostly double-storey estate homes from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, with gates preserved in many of them. The gate at house No. 17 dates back to the Renaissance period. The village has had a publicly accessible private garden railway since 2007.
