Character of the route. The route is suitable for both mountain bikes and cross bikes.

In the days when Karel Hynek Mácha roamed this romantic region, the journey to Bezděz was a small adventure. Today, we will comfortably cycle to this symbol of the Mácha region. The route will not lead to the top of the castle hill, but along a pleasant circular route around both Bezděz hills.

The trip will start at the Town Hall on Masaryk Square and continue along Česká Street. The whole town was fortified with walls when it was founded at the beginning of the 14th century. The walls were opened by five gates and a small gate called “Fortna”, which was used to go under the town to fetch water. Only one gate, the so-called Bohemian Gate, has been preserved to this day. After crossing the main road we will see marked cycle paths. We will follow the one with the number 3045, which is partly identical to the red tourist marker, through Vrchběla through the former military area towards Bezděz. We pass through Nový Dvůr past farmsteads with horse breeding. Through the fruit avenue we start to climb gently up to the village of Bezděz, on the way we get views of Vrátenská hora, Houska and of course Bezděz Castle itself. In the village we can have a snack or visit the castle. We recommend ascending the castle without bicycles, the climb is difficult on terrain unsuitable for bicycles. The Royal Castle Bezděz is undoubtedly one of our most famous and most popular castles. The characteristic silhouette of the castle with its two towers on the higher of the two domes (604 and 577 m above sea level), which significantly tower over the surrounding landscape, forms an unforgettable dominant feature of the region. In the village we will go past the parking lot and the pond along the red tourist sign to the crossroads Malý Bezděz-Háj, here we will turn right. Follow the asphalt forest path, don't move anywhere, follow the contour line all the way. After going around both hills we get back to the village, where we pass the pond again and after the parking lot we turn left, pass the church of St. George and join the cycle route No. 3045. You will reach the Marian Way, where you will turn right onto cycle route number 8150. At first we will ride on a rough asphalt forest road, then on a more rocky one. After Mariánská cesta we will get to the main road Bělá - Kuřívody, cross it and continue straight on the forest path. We will reach the Radechov hill (392 m), the second highest hill in Mladá Boleslav region and the gateway to Podbezdězí and Mácha region. The area of 23 hectares is protected as the Velký Radechov Natural Monument, especially in the upper parts. An interesting building from the middle of the 19th century is the hunting lodge built by the Wallenstein family in the Tyrolean style on the Radechov hill. From Radechov we go down to the road leading from Bělá - Dolní Krupá, turn right on it and use the cycling trail No. 3045 for the last section of the road, which will lead us back to Bělá pod Bezdězem.
