Bělá pod Bezdězem – Jezová – Sucholesská – Břehyňský rybník – Doksy – Tachov – Okna – Valdštejnsko – Březinka – Plužná – Bělá pod Bezdězem

Start: Bělá pod Bezdězem, Česká brána
Finish: Bělá pod Bezdězem
Distance: 49.9 km
Route type: Moderately difficult ride along asphalt and paved forest and field roads, with no significant elevation gain. Suitable for both mountain and hybrid bikes.

Although this trip is a bit longer, it’s not particularly demanding. The route takes you through romantic countryside, offering beautiful views of the landscape once wandered by the famous Czech poet Karel Hynek Mácha.

The bike trip begins in Bělá at the Česká brána (Czech Gate). From here, ride toward the main road leading into town and cross it. Just past the road, you’ll find marked cycle routes 0060, 3045, and 3040 — follow these. Along the way, you’ll pass the town swimming pool, built between 1932–1933 on the site of the former Nadýmač Pond. At the junction, turn right and head uphill toward Kuřívody on cycle route 3040. After about 8 km, turn left onto the Sucholesská Road — a pleasant asphalt forest road marked as cycle route 25. This road takes you all the way to the square in Doksy.

On the way to Doksy, consider stopping by Břehyňský Pond, located on your right as you exit the forest. The pond is part of the large Břehyně–Pecopala nature reserve. Swimming is prohibited here. From the pond, the route briefly follows the road from Mimoň to Doksy. Continue along cycle route 25 into the town square, where you’ll find several refreshment options to recharge for the next stage. From Doksy, ride past the town hall and the bus station, still following route 25 in the direction of Dubá. At the major intersection with the Česká Lípa – Mladá Boleslav road, turn left into the designated left-turn lane and then veer right after crossing. Stay on route 25, then turn left into the village of Tachov, known for its trachyte hill that has been gradually reduced by stone quarrying. After passing the water reservoir in Tachov, turn left and join cycle route 0015 along an asphalt road toward Ždírec. Do not turn right — continue straight to Okna along an unmarked cycle path. In Okna, by the church, join route 0014, which also follows the yellow hiking trail, heading toward Pankrác. In Pankrác, you’ll find a two-story timbered house — a former gamekeeper’s lodge — and a nearby cabin camp. Turn left and head toward Bezděz along route 0061. Before the Bezděz train station, turn right onto cycle route 0060, which leads to Valdštejnsko. At Valdštejnsko, Count Valdštejn built six Baroque hunting pavilions in 1725 at the intersection of radial forest paths. Today, only two pavilions remain, but the original sculptural decorations — statues of Grenadiers in the Valdštejn colors — have been preserved. Continue along route 0060 through Březinka and Plužná, returning to Bělá pod Bezdězem. You’ll arrive at the opposite end of town near the train station. If you continue following route 0060, it will lead you back past the swimming pool to the Česká brána, completing the loop.
