It has been more than 50 years since Jaroslav Němeček breathed life into these four characters and thus created a unique Czech comic. It is not a secret that Jaroslav Němeček found the comic's preview in Doksy and its surroundings, because many a keen eye will have recognised that Třeskoprsky is Doksy, Blat'ák is Máchovo jezero and Bezzub is Bezděz Castle.
That is why the first museum dedicated to this comic book, the Čtyřlístek Museum, was established in Doksy. Its original seat was in the attic of the town library in Valdštejnská Street (today it houses a school club).
When the museum opened in December 2011, it was such a sensation that the queue of people interested in visiting it reached almost half a kilometre. In the years that followed, the museum became one of the most sought-after destinations in the entire Mácha Region. When the town of Doksy took over the castle from the Liberec Region in 2015 and began its reconstruction, it was immediately clear that the museum would get new premises. And so, on 22 December 2019, the new phase of the Čtyřlístek Museum began.
Currently, the museum can be found on the second floor of the Doksy Castle. There is a permanent exhibition dedicated to the development of the Čtyřlístek comic strip. You will learn how this comic was created step by step and how such a comic is actually created. One of the museum's rarities is that you can meet all the characters in almost life-size. The little ones have a space for drawing and playing, the older ones for talks and lectures.
You can visit the Čtyřlístek Museum from April to October according to the opening hours or in the case of a larger group (over 10 people) on request.
