The original Baroque chateau of Sychrov was renovated in the neo-classic and neo-gothic style. Its romantic look comes in particular from Josef Pruvota, royal architect.

Fairy Tale Castle

The Neo-Gothic Sychrov Castle, which served as a summer residence for the French Rohan family in the 19th century, is familiar to you from the fairy tales "Goldilocks", "The Immortal Aunt", and "The Most Beautiful Riddle". The castle’s interiors are adorned with rich wood carvings, and in the individual rooms you can also see a wealth of original furniture, paintings, and everyday objects.

The Castle Park: A Place for Tranquility and Discovery

The expansive English-style park on the castle grounds invites you to take walks and relax. In addition to a variety of rare trees and shrubs, you’ll also discover charming small structures—ponds, fountains, a water tower, and the restored castle orangery, which now serves as a stylish café.

Tours that draw you into the story

The castle offers a wide variety of tours—from classic guided tours to popular tours with a princess or special programs for schools and professionals. It is open year-round (except December 24–26). Visitors can view the first floor with its state rooms and the private apartments of the princely couple year-round, and during the high season, the second floor of the east wing as well.

The Life of the Nobility Within Reach

The castle’s interiors, faithfully restored to their late 19th-century appearance, offer a vivid glimpse into the daily life of the nobility. In addition to the original furnishings and rich woodcarvings, the Rohan portrait gallery is particularly noteworthy, featuring more than 240 portraits of family members and their relatives—the largest collection of French portraits outside of France.

1. Prince Kamil’s Castle (Basic Tour) – A tour of the interiors of the Rohan noble family’s summer residence from the second half of the 19th century.
